In another epic attempt to escape war-torn Ukraine, an 11-year-old boy named Hasan Pisecka made the 600-mile journey alone to neighboring Slovakia.

He did it with just a plastic bag, a passport and a phone number written on his hand in a story that caught the world’s attention.

Hassan, 11, boarded a train westward to the border with Slovakia, where he was spotted by officials who noticed his “smile, fearlessness and determination worthy of a real hero.”

Helping him get to the other side, the boy’s relatives received a phone call and came to pick him up.

While these stories lifted spirits during the tragedy, President Joe Biden stepped up efforts as well.

It happened both in terms of his actions and words against Russia when Biden finally called Putin a war criminal for the first time.

The US President also promised to send $800 million worth of military equipment.

His pledge of support is meant to bolster Ukraine’s military action, which, according to the US, has already killed, wounded, or captured 28,000 Russian soldiers.
