Priscilla Presley visits Australia to open Elvis Presley exhibition in Bendigo and says the king was sorry he never came
Priscilla Presley came to Australia for a very sentimental reason.
The American actress visited the Bendigo Art Gallery in Victoria to open Elvis Presley’s new exhibition Elvis: Straight Out of Graceland.
The 76-year-old woman shared her thoughts on what her ex-husband, who died in 1977 at the age of 42, would have thought of Australia, which he never got to visit.

“Elvis at one time thought he would be forgotten. He didn’t get to go to all the places he wanted to go and Australia was one of them,” she said in a video posted by ABC Central Victoria.
“So it will be interesting for all of you to talk about his life and what he did, about the clothes that he wore, especially about his overalls.”
Based on her thoughts about the city of Bendigo, Priscilla said, “I like it here. It’s so weird and weird. This is the city I’m in love with. It’s very, very nice.
“Elvis at one time thought he would be forgotten. He couldn’t travel to all the places he wanted to visit and Australia was one of them,” she said.
The star brought some Elvis pieces from his Graceland home in Memphis, Tennessee to Australia for an exhibition.
The exhibition features 300 authentic artifacts and personal items belonging to Elvis, including his red 1976 Harley Davidson, military uniform and overalls.
The show will open on March 19 and run until July 17, with tickets already selling fast.

Priscilla married Elvis in 1967 and then divorced in 1973 when she was 27, just four years before his death.
Elvis died of a heart attack in 1977, leaving a daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, now 54.
In an interview with People, Priscilla also spoke about her marriage to Elvis, saying, “I really enjoyed taking care of Elvis. I enjoyed taking care of him.
“I enjoyed feeding him. We would lisp, because you need to speak your language when there are so many people around. It was a good life. He was different, but he was ours.”
Now: The show opens on March 19 and runs until July 17, and tickets are already sold out.
