France has accused seven young men of mass robbery of a film crew filming the new season of the popular Netflix series about the robbery “Lupin”.
The TV crew, along with series lead actor Omar Sy, were filming in the Pablo Picasso district of the Parisian suburb of Nanterre during the afternoon in late February when they were attacked by about 20 hooded men.
The thieves set off fireworks at the carriage before fleeing with around €300,000 (£250,000) worth of equipment.
The teenagers and men aged between 13 and 21 accused on Friday are charged with armed robbery as part of an organized gang and receiving stolen goods, Nanterre prosecutors said.
A source close to the investigation told AFP that the youths were known to police, adding that some of the stolen equipment was found during searches.
Three of them are in custody and four are under judicial supervision. The police are still looking for other gang members who are on the run.
