In a candid conversation about his personal life, David Beckham has reflected on what he thinks are his most controversial hairstyles of all time.
The former footballer, 47, said his legendary mohawk caused most of the problems in 2000 when his then Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson told him to shave it off in the dressing room as soon as he saw him.
Speaking to England football manager Gary Neville, 47, for Sky Bets The Overlap, David explained: “Probably the mohawk. It wasn’t until the gaffer saw it and he let me shave in the dressing room.

“The mohawk and probably the cornrows. I had them made in the south of France after drinking a glass of rosé.”
Meanwhile, he also revealed what he thought was his best hairstyle ever, adding that he’d love to get back to it right away.
Referring to his current haircut, he joked, “Apart from this one?” before adding, “I’ve always loved the skinhead because it was easy, you didn’t have to do anything with it, so I loved the skinhead.”

The sportsman also opened up about his bold fashion choices over the years, insisting his choice of clothes was always his own, although people thought Ms Victoria Beckham, 48, had an impact.
When asked about his favorite outfit, he insisted he never had any doubts, explaining, “I’ve always felt like I looked good. Looking back now, I’m not sure, but I always felt like I always wore the right thing back then.”
And when asked where his fashion came from, he continued: “To be honest people always thought that Victoria has a big influence on what I wear, the decisions I make with hairstyles or tattoos, or who Clothes I wear but I always made the decision to wear a full leather outfit or whatever I was wearing at the time.
Honest: Speaking to England football manager Gary Neville, 47, for Sky Bets The Overlap, David explained: ‘Probably the mohawk. It took the gaffer to see it’
“I just loved fashion. I loved wearing different things and different clothes and things like that.
Gary replied: “To be fair, the more people telling you not to wear something, that’s the worst thing you can do to yourself, isn’t it? You’re bloody stubborn, aren’t you?’
“I don’t think I’ve changed, even now,” David said. “If someone says to me, ‘Don’t do it,’ I will,” he laughed.

“I haven’t always done it, maybe in the last 15 years. There are probably a few other things I do that annoy her, to be honest.
“I’m very clean and she’s not. As in ‘messy’

Look of love: David recalled the first time he saw wife Victoria on TV while sharing a hotel room with Gary when the Spice Girls’ Say You’ll Be There was on screen
“The stubbornness of Romeo, he has my stubborn side. Harper’s kindness, I would say. Brooklyn is a softie and very caring.
“Cruz, Victoria always said I’m pretty funny and nobody knows what I thought people knew, but Cruz is quite a character so I’d like to say that Cruz has my character and my funny side. So a little bit of everything.”
And on his favorite Spice Girls song, David recalled the first time he saw Victoria on TV when he was sharing a hotel room with Gary, saying: ‘Say you’ll be there because that’s what we’re in in separate beds sat our room in Moldova I think.”
David went on to explain that he later arranged for Victoria to visit the players’ lounge after a game and Gary said: “Back then, social media was absolutely not a part of life. I just found out she was there and it was just meant to be I suppose Gary.”
