Celebrity-favorite fashion giant Balenciaga has launched a new line of Crocs with summer makeup that will be seen poolside on many celebrities in the coming months.
The Balenciaga Crocs Pool Flip Flops are the latest iteration of the classic “ugly shoe” from the Parisian fashion house that has become a viral sensation despite its unconventional look.
Featuring a distinctive peep toe and rounded platform sole, the shoes cost £415 and come in black, white, yellow, pink and bright green.

The Georgian-born designer posted a photo of the shoe on Instagram, and hundreds of fashion fans said they couldn’t wait to get their hands on a pair.

Last year, they released stiletto heeled crocs that pair classic resin shoes with a rugged raised heel in a variety of vibrant colors.

The same collection also includes platform rubber boots for those looking for something more durable.
Introduced at the 2001 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in Florida, Crocs were originally intended to be worn on boats.
The odor-resistant resin coating made them popular and the company initially sold 200 pairs. So far, over 300 million have been sold.
The shoes feature “Balenciaga” embossed on the front (left) and “Designed in collaboration with crocodiles” at the bottom.
To the dismay of fashion directors, sales skyrocketed in 2006. Tim Gunn, a fashion consultant, told Time magazine at the time, “The crocodile – it looks like a plastic hoof. How can you take it seriously?
By 2009, Crocs was steadily heading for bankruptcy after a $159 million loss from the previous year.
But they’ve seen a resurgence in recent years, thanks to deals with fashion houses like Balenciaga and the company has been able to return to profitability.
Social media users were shocked when high-end designer Balenciaga and comfortable shoe brand Crocs revealed they teamed up last summer to create stilettos.
On social media, a handful of fashion fans who bought their own Balenciaga Croc Madame showed them off.
Last year, Oscars music director Questlove made fashion directors shudder when he wore a gold pair on the red carpet.
The company has long been reaching out to celebrities to promote its shoes, which have 13 vents on the top and sides for ventilation.
In 2018, Crocs collaborated with rapper Post Malone and later worked with Justin Bieber and Latin pop star Bad Bunny.
Musical director of the Oscars Questlove (pictured) made the fashion directors shiver when he wore the gold pair on the red carpet.
American rapper Post Malone has also worked with Crocs to create his own shoe line. The first collection, released in November 2018, sold out in just 10 minutes.
Said to be worn by the pool, the new collections have a 5mm raised arch, meaning they are perfect for swimming in the water.
They were met with mixed reviews online, with some saying they “love them” and “can’t wait to try” while others point out the high price.
“The Balenciaga Crocs peep toe platform is very good. But the price tag doesn’t make any sense. I really wish the Crocs design team didn’t sleep for that long. They should have been made many years ago! No collaboration with Balenciaga,” said one of them.
“It annoys me that I like them,” added another.
“I love them,” said a third.
