7 people charged with robbing Netflix’s ‘Lupin’ set

Seven young men have been charged with armed robbery for their alleged role in a daring daylight attack on the French crew of “Lupin,” a Netflix series about a burglar. Last month, a gang of about 20 hooded thieves pelted a film crew with fireworks and made off with some $330,000 worth of equipment.

Three accused of robbery, aged between 13 and 21, are in custody, and four are under court supervision. Agence France-Presse reported on Saturday that police are still looking for other attackers and have recovered some of the stolen equipment.

On a late February afternoon, the crew, along with series star Omar Sy, were filming in the Pablo Picasso district of the Parisian suburb of Nanterre when they were attacked.

None of the cast or crew, including C, were harmed.

The show tells the story of professional thief Assane Diop, played by C. The series was inspired by the fictional French master of disguise Arsène Lupin.

Lupine isn’t the only high-profile Netflix production targeted by thieves this year.

The day before the Paris robbery, robbers in South Yorkshire, UK, stole over 200 antique props from the set of The Crown.

The two robberies are believed to be unrelated.
