Kate Garraway admits she’s feeling “exhausted and restless” as husband Derek Draper continues in and out of hospital after battling Covid
Kate Garraway took to Instagram on Monday to give her fans an update on her husband Derek Draper’s ongoing health battle.
The GMB host admitted she feels “exhausted and annoyed” with her beloved husband in and out of the hospital and continuing to require 24-hour medical attention.
Derek, 54, was Britain’s longest-suffering Covid patient, having been hospitalized with the virus in March 2020 and unable to fully recover.

Kate, also 54, shared a video of a beautiful garden and wrote: “So Derek has been in and out of the hospital a lot lately.
“Hopefully the wonderful health teams are helping him to improve but I woke up early feeling exhausted and very restless.
”As you know, my garden is my #happyplace, so I came out to have some #rest and to do some weeding and planting.

“It’s been ages since I’ve been able and I’ve really missed it, but nature hasn’t got me. The flowers bloom, the fruits grow, the leaves dance in the wind.’
She continued, “I’m sure there’s a message somewhere about how life finds a way and it certainly makes me feel better to be there.
“Now I’m getting my hands dirty and I’m stuck! #happysundayeveryone and hope you find some joy!’
Just last month, Kate missed a week of hosting Good Morning Britain after “urgent” problems at home.

And she recently detailed how she’s struggling with “loss” as Derek continues his lengthy recovery.
The presenter, who shares daughter Darcy, 17, and son William, 12, with Derek, spoke candidly about the fight during a recent episode of Your Body Uncovered. He describes how his ongoing health struggle has strained their relationship.
Derek returned home from hospital in April 2021 after a year-long struggle and still requires around-the-clock care amid his lengthy recovery.
Kate shared, “When something is neurological, it doesn’t just take care of the physical issue, it affects the relationship.”
Revealing how Derek can say some words but can’t fully express himself, she shared: “In a way, because of Covid, Derek has a version of that where he can understand, does weird words at times, but can’t express himself .”
Kate previously admitted Derek could die if left unassisted for more than three days.
He is bedridden, with Kate doing much of the care herself, insisting she will “never give up on him”.
