“We see how all these restrictions, the sanctions imposed, affect the prices of energy, food, etc. We are seeing the consequences of the mistakes made by many countries, which are being manifested in the emerging food crisis,” he warned.

Last week, the head of state addressed a message to attendees and guests at the 25th edition of Spief on June 15-18, assuring that the 2020s will be a time of strengthening the country’s economic sovereignty, the international priority will have cooperation.

He stressed that the goals for this period include accelerated development of the country’s infrastructure and technological base, qualitative increase in the level of training of specialists and creation of an independent and efficient financial system.

“Russia’s economy will increasingly rely on private initiative and, of course, will keep the course towards openness and broad international cooperation,” he said.

He also expressed his interest in Spief continuing to make significant contributions to solving many of humanity’s priority tasks, and that its characteristics always remain mutual trust, richness of content and the spirit of fruitful dialogue and partnership.

The head of state stressed the importance of stimulating trade and investment, promoting joint development of technologies, strengthening financial and stock markets, and increasing settlement amounts in local currency.

“It is important to introduce and develop a truly beneficial integration model, as is already happening in the Eurasian Economic Union,” he stressed.

Putin reminded that the 25th anniversary forum meeting is taking place at a difficult time for the entire international community.

In his view, years of mistakes in Western economic policy and illegitimate sanctions have led to a global wave of inflation, the collapse of usual production and supply chains, a sharp rise in poverty and food shortages.

“But as so often, challenges also bring opportunities. That’s why the motto of the forum is so topical: New world, new opportunities,” he explained.

Putin wished success to the participants of the event, which so far has registered more than 2,700 company representatives, including more than a thousand their bosses, reported the Roscongress Foundation, organizer of the forum.
