Ricardo Gareca on his future with the Peru national team: “When I get to Lima I’ll see what I do”

Ricardo Gareca, coach of the Peru national team, commented after Peru lost on penalties to Australia in the playoffs. The Argentine strategist was consulted on his future, leaving his continuity in doubt.

“This is not the time to talk about it. As soon as we’re in Lima I’ll see what I do”, were the statements of the ‘Tigre’ after the end of the game against the Australian team.

Referring to his coaches’ game development, Gareca pointed out that the Socceroos did a good job against the Bicolor, emphasizing the few scoring chances.

“We had the expectation of being able to arrive, but unfortunately it didn’t happen. Australia worked the game well for us, it was very tough and rehearsed,” added the coach at a press conference.

“The boys gave everything. It was a balanced and difficult game. Too bad we lost on penalties, we wanted to win it during the game but couldn’t. I have only words of thanks for the fans. They came here and we couldn’t make them happy and that hurts us,” Tigre concluded.
