Mick Jagger, 78, has tested positive for COVID-19, leading to the cancellation of the Rolling Stones concert scheduled for Monday night in Amsterdam, organizers and the band have announced and promised a new date would be announced.

“Singer Mick Jagger has just been diagnosed with COVID-19 and has left the venue ill,” the organizers announced on their website. “Tonight’s show” at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam “is cancelled,” they added.

Mick Jagger apologized on his Twitter account for having to cancel the concert “at such short notice” and promised to reschedule the concert as soon as possible.

“The safety of the public, other musicians and the tour crew must be a priority,” the group said on their Twitter account, “deeply sorry.”

Purchased tickets remain valid for the new date.

At the beginning of June, the Rolling Stones started a European tour in Madrid for their 60th anniversary, which, after 14 concerts in ten countries, was supposed to end on July 31st. In particular, it must take them to Milan, London, Brussels or Liverpool, where they have not played for 50 years.

The Stones’ birth certificate is issued by rock critics at their first performance together in July 1962 at the Marquee in London.

The year 2022 is filled with symbols for the group. In addition to his 60th birthday, he is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of his legendary albums, Exile on Main Street.

This tour will be conducted without Charlie Watts, the historic drummer who died in 2021 and was replaced by newcomer Steve Jordan.
