Amber Heard denies being cut from ‘Aquaman 2’, role to be recast

Amber Heard has denied reports that she will be cut from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and that her role as Mera will be recast.

“Warner Brothers decided to rewrite Amber Heard’s role after the film’s screentest,” an insider reportedly told JustJared.

They reportedly wanted to do reshoots with stars Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman, the source claimed.

However, a representative for Heard denied the rumor to The Post, saying in a statement that the “rumor mill continues as it has from day one” and that it is “inaccurate, insensitive and slightly insane.”

The Post has also solicited comments from representatives of Warner Bros.

The troubled actress’ removal comes after her high-profile libel trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp.

During her high-profile libel trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, the 36-year-old actress claimed that Warner Brothers “didn’t want me in the DC Comics sequel.”

Heard also noted that she was “actively scheduling” the superhero film until Depp’s legal team reportedly launched a campaign against her. She said her scenes were drastically reduced in the film.

“I was given a script and then new versions of the script that had removed scenes of action depicting my character and another character, no spoilers, two characters fighting each other, and they basically took a bunch out of my role” , she told the courtroom in Fairfax, Virginia. “You just removed a bunch.”

Heard claimed in testimony that the studio “didn’t want to involve her in the new project.”

Heard’s WME agent Jessica Kovacevic testified during the trial that Warner Bros. claimed it was Heard’s “lack of chemistry” with her “Aquaman” co-star Jason Momoa that nearly blew her up would have. However, Momoa has reportedly campaigned for the actress to keep the role. Additionally, Kovacevic said she believes the studio wanted Heard removed as Princess Mera because of the “bad press” stemming from the court case.

“No one wants that association,” Kovacevic testified.

Kovacevic also opened up about Heard’s career before and after her relationship with Depp, 58, and said she should have been a big star after the first film premiered in late 2018, which grossed over $1 billion.

Viewers have been begging Warner Bros. for months to remove Heard from Aquaman 2 amid their legal battles with the Pirates of the Caribbean star. To date, the petition has surpassed more than 4.6 million signatures.

The recast rumor comes on the same day that a segment of Heard’s interview with Today show host Savannah Guthrie aired on NBC.

“Until the day I die, I will stand by every word I say,” she told Guthrie.

On June 1, a Fairfax, Virginia jury awarded Depp, 58, more than $10 million after finding his ex-wife slandered his reputation and career with her domestic violence claims in a comment from 2018 that she wrote for the Washington Post. In addition, he was awarded $5 million in punitive damages. Heard, meanwhile, was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages and no punitive damages.
