Heat hammer hits Austria it’s getting hotter

The bright sun and heat will be followed by lightning and thunder – strong heat storms are expected again in Austria.

Central Europe is under the influence of a high pressure area called David on Wednesday. In much of the country, the summer weather is stable, only in the Alps and in the south are local hot storms expected. On Thursday it will be generally unstable – and over the next few days it will get hotter and hotter.

Danger of storm and hail

Of Thursday, Corpus Christi, starts in the west of the Northern Alps with local showers or isolated thunderstorms, otherwise the sun usually shines. In the morning, clouds on the north side of the Alps will get thicker and storms will spread. Around noon, the risk of thunderstorms will also increase in the east and south, with possible gusts of local wind and hail. Before the thunderstorms it will be stuffy with highs between 24 and 31 degrees.

At the Friday a friendly mix of sun and clouds dominates in the west, in the Danube region and in the eastern plains. From the Kitzbühel Alps to Upper Styria, on the other hand, the clouds are denser and there is also local rainfall. In the extreme south, local thunderstorms are not excluded in the afternoon, but most remain dry here. In the east a strong north wind sometimes blows, in fated valleys in the south a north wind blows. Temperatures vary from north to south 20 to 29 degrees.
