Chris Cuomo and his wife Cristina walked out to the Hamptons after the former CNN anchor demanded a $125 million payout.

Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo was spotted on a coffee run with his wife Christina in the Hamptons on Sunday, days after the anchor filed his first petition seeking $125 million in severance pay from the network.

Cuomo, 51, looked casual in a gray hoodie, blue joggers and black On sneakers as he drove his black Ford F-150 and stepped out to deliver packages.

He completed his look with a hat from Core, Sean Penn’s non-profit emergency relief organization.

The sighting comes days after Cuomo accused CNN and his former colleagues of running a smear campaign against him after he was fired for helping his governor brother fight sexual harassment allegations.

In a filing last Wednesday, Cuomo accused CNN of damaging his reputation and violating his contract by allowing employees to publicly criticize him as he demands a nine-figure payout from the news channel.

The statement reads: “Jake Tupper, an anchor for CNN, has publicly criticized Cuomo’s ethics as a journalist and falsely claimed that Cuomo ‘threatened’ Zucker.

“Don Lemon, another CNN anchor, falsely claimed that Cuomo “was found to be violating these journalistic standards, and then [was] generously paid for it.

Brian Stelter, CNN’s chief media correspondent, said Cuomo “acted like an unpaid employee” for Governor Cuomo and “tried to burn this place down” after CNN fired him, according to a document obtained by Mediaite.

The former Cuomo Prime Time host was fired in December after it was revealed he was counseling his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, after the state’s attorney general found he had sexually molested 11 different women.

CNN president Jeff Zucker resigned in February after it was revealed he had an undisclosed relationship with a network executive. Some, including Jake Tupper, have speculated that Cuomo was the one who leaked the information to get a better exit package.

Cuomo, who made $6 million a year from CNN, is now seeking $110 million in damages and $15 million allegedly owed to him by contract, according to Deadline.

“Countless damage was done to Cuomo as a result of Turner’s unjustified decision to unceremoniously fire him,” Cuomo’s lawyers said.

“Cuomo’s journalistic integrity has been unduly tarnished, making it difficult, if not impossible, for Cuomo to find a similar job in the future and has cost him more than $125 million in damages, including not only remaining wages due under the Agreement, but future lost wages. as a result of CNN’s efforts to destroy his reputation for violating the Agreement.”

Cuomo’s firing set off a series of upheavals at CNN.

Zucker resigned last month amid an investigation into his relationship with Vice President Allison Gollust, who also resigned.

Zucker recently completed a deal for a $10 million exit package. Gollust was reportedly paid $1 million.

Cuomo and CNN are currently in private arbitration over his own exit deal.

The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday against CNN, also alleges that Zucker was aware of Cuomo’s closeness to his brother and that he himself maintained friendly relations with the former governor.

It also alleges that the network did not do enough to stop Cuomo’s colleagues from publicly criticizing him in violation of his contract.

“An additional and equally significant legally indefensible violation of the Agreement was Zucker’s total failure to comply with the terms of the Agreement when he failed to instruct CNN staff not to humiliate Cuomo,” the statement said.

“The agreement requires CNN to “make reasonable efforts to instruct its employees not to make any deliberately disparaging comments regarding [Cuomo] in the context [Cuomo’s] business and professional activities.

“In fact, not only did Zucker and CNN fail to instruct CNN staff not to humiliate Cuomo as required by the Accord, they themselves openly humiliated Cuomo in violation of the Accord, with Zucker leading the charge.

“Before Cuomo was fired, Zucker initially claimed he was unaware of Cuomo’s discussions with Governor Cuomo’s aides when Zucker himself did the same.

“After Cuomo was fired, Zucker claimed that Cuomo had broken his word and that Cuomo misrepresented the extent of his support for his brother. Other CNN employees have joined in a calculated campaign to vilify Cuomo and destroy his reputation.”

At a private meeting in D.C. last month following Zucker’s resignation, Cuomo’s former colleagues made it clear that there was still love between them and the former host.

Host Jake Tupper cited a theory that Cuomo leaked information about Zucker’s relationship with the executive to get a better exit package.

An outside observer might say, “Well, looks like Chris Cuomo has succeeded. He threatened. Jeff said, “We don’t negotiate with terrorists,” and Chris blew the place up.” How to get rid of the feeling that the bad guy wins? he said.

“I think the problem is that it’s not perception. What Jake just described actually happened here,” repeated Chief White House Correspondent Caitlan Collins.

In another meeting, host Don Lemon asked WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar, “Have you thought about the message that this sends … that it’s possible to find someone who breaks those journalistic standards and then get paid handsomely for it?”

Host Erin Burnett said she and her co-stars “mourned” Zucker’s departure and demanded more information during a private meeting. Host Richard Quest likened the dismissal to “thrown the captain overboard just as the ship is about to pass through the icebergs”.

In another meeting, the New York hosts also mourned Zucker’s resignation and placed the blame on Cuomo for his resignation.

Richard Quest, host of the daily show Quest Means Business on CNN International, told WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar: “There was a possibility of a more original outcome that would allow you to leave the captain instead of throwing him overboard while the ship was about to go through the icebergs. “.

Erin Burnett, who hosts the 7 p.m. broadcast, said she and her colleagues were “mourning” and demanded more information about Zucker’s departure.

“Moving forward will require answers to these questions,” she said, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Meanwhile, hosts Don Lemon and Oliver Darcy questioned Kilar, 50, about whether former host Chris Cuomo would receive a severance package from CNN.

“Have you thought about the message that this sends to journalists at the company, as well as to the general public, that it is possible to find someone who breaks these journalistic standards and then get paid decently for it,” Lemon Kilara reportedly asked.
