West Side Story star Rachel Zegler doesnt have an Oscar

‘West Side Story’ star Rachel Zegler doesn’t have an Oscar ticket in Epic Snub

West Side Story reminds its audience that “there’s a place for us.” Except maybe for actress Rachel Zegler, who lamented on Instagram today that she wasn’t invited to the March 27 Oscars in Hollywood.

Zegler, who plays “Maria” in the revival of the classic musical, wasn’t nominated for an Oscar, but the film is nominated for seven, including best picture.

But when a fan took to Instagram today to ask what she was wearing to the ceremony, the truth about her snub came out.

“I’m not invited, so my boyfriend’s sweatpants and flannel,” was Zegler’s response.

Outraged fans of the actress naturally took up torches and pitchforks upon learning of her ban.

“I’ve tried everything but it doesn’t seem to be happening,” she wrote. “I’ll be cheering on ‘West Side Story’ from my couch and be proud of the work we did so tirelessly three years ago. I’m hoping for a last minute miracle and a personal celebration of our film, but hey, I guess that’s how it goes sometimes. Thanks for all the shock and outrage – I’m disappointed too. but that’s fine. So proud of our film.”

Assuming she doesn’t make it to the red carpet, Zegler will next be in the DC superhero movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which is slated to hit theaters this December. She will also play the title role in Disney’s Snow White remake.

Deadine has reached out to Zegler’s representatives, the Academy Awards and ABC, which will be televising the event. We’ll update when they reply.

TO UPDATE: Zegler responded to the fan outrage and called for calm.
