The clip, titled “Was,” shows footage of people dying as buildings are being torn down and civilians weeping for their loved ones.
However, in a sign of hope, the video ends with footage of Ukraine’s landmarks at the best of times and a voice-over saying that the country will “win”.

But for us it is not so easy. Because now an ordinary Ukrainian simply cannot say “it was” without tears.
“This was my home. It was my friend. This was my dog. It was my car. It was my job. And that was my father. And that was my daughter.
“Russia has drowned Ukraine in tears, blood and children’s corpses.”
The devastation was captured on video footage of damaged buildings and injured civilians
The clip, titled “Was,” shows footage of people dying as buildings are being torn down and civilians weeping for their loved ones.

The footage was shared by Channel 4 news anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, who said the video belongs to Volodymyr Zelensky, but the President of Ukraine has yet to share it on his social media.
Now the video has over 233,000 views and Mr. Guru-Murthy’s post has been liked over 2500 times.
An inspirational voice-over concludes, “There will be new homes. There will be new cities. There will be new dreams.
“There will be a new story. Those we lost will be remembered.
“Ukraine was beautiful, but now it will become great.”

It comes as an art school where about 400 people took refuge in the besieged Ukrainian port city of Mariupol was bombed by the Russian military, according to officials in the area.
Local authorities said today that the school building has been destroyed and people may be under the rubble. No casualties were reported immediately.
On Wednesday, Russian troops bombed a theater in Mariupol where civilians had taken refuge.
Local authorities said 130 people were rescued, but many more could remain under the rubble.

Mariupol, a strategic port on the Sea of Azov, was surrounded by Russian troops, cut off from sources of energy, food and water, and subjected to relentless bombardment. Local authorities said that at least 2,300 people died as a result of the siege, and some of them had to be buried in mass graves.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the siege of Mariupol will go down in history because of war crimes committed by Russian troops.
In a video message, he said: “What the invaders did to a peaceful city is a horror that will be remembered for centuries to come.”
