Michael Owen cut a dapper figure on Friday’s arrival for day four of Royal Ascot.

The football ace, 42, wore a black top hat and a smart morning suit as he made his second appearance at the glamorous event at Ascot Racecourse this week.

It comes after his daughter Gemma, 19, ran into trouble in their romance when partner Luca Bish brutally hit her while they were discussing their relationship.

After previously commenting that his daughter’s entry into the Love Island mansion was “a father’s worst nightmare”, he distracted himself from their TV antics as he mingled with other race-goers after winning the Albany Stakes – a flat tire race of group 3 – had seen.

The forward paired his black jacket with gray trousers and a matching waistcoat and tie.

Michael also took to Instagram to share a snap of himself and his friends as they posed in front of a helicopter before flying into the event.

It comes as Gemma claimed fishmonger Luca, 23, has “seen a different side” since they hooked up last week and admitted she wanted to slow things down.

The couple have gone through a rough patch after Gemma flirted with her ex-boyfriend Jacques O’Neill and then accidentally mixed up the couples’ names.

The dressage rider pulled Luca aside and began: “You must have noticed that I was a bit off on the last day.

“What initially attracted me to you was that you didn’t give up, but I saw another side of you that I like, but I don’t want to feel like we’re both married now and that’s it.”

Luca then quipped: “Why are we married? Because two new guys walked in and didn’t pay you any attention?’

A shocked Gemma replied: “No it has nothing to do with the other boys.”

Viewers were left in hysterics as they were speechless at the quick comment and rushed to Twitter to praise Luca.

Elsewhere in his book, Michael wrote that he sought therapy after becoming painfully jealous of Gemma’s bond with her mother, Louise.

Former footballer Michael, who married his elementary school sweetheart Louise in 2005, said he struggled with his mental health after retiring from the sport.

The soccer star admits he was “deliberately hard” on Louise on issues he knew would “push her buttons”, including her relationship with Gemma.

Michael wrote in his autobiography 2020 Reboot: “To my surprise, in 2014 I was standing on a figurative cliff.

“A lifetime of having that certain type of mentality, that behavior, had gotten me to a point where I had to seek professional help…

“For years, because of my own inner demons, I was intentionally very hard on Louise when it came to issues that I knew would weigh on her the most – not least her close relationship with our daughter Gemma.

He added: “Let me be very clear that none of this was in any way a reflection of how I felt about Gemma or Louise. I love them both with all my heart.

‘But I’d take it all out on Louise. I would accuse her of spending all her time with her eldest and ignoring the other kids. It wasn’t even true.’

Admitting that he was afraid of a divorce, he went on to say that he and Louise went to a counselor and he then continued treatment on his own.
