Nearly two months after The Walking Dead actor Moses J. Moseley was found dead in an Atlanta suburb, a coroner confirmed he shot himself in the head, but no means of death could be established.
Moseley, 31, who appeared on The Walking Dead from 2012 to 2015 playing the armless and jawless Mike the house zombie, was found unconscious in his car on January 26 in Stockbridge with a gun in his lap.
Moseley’s family raised questions about the circumstances of his death, suggesting that he was the victim of a kidnapping and murder, which was then covered up and made to look like a suicide.
The coroner confirmed that The Walking Dead actor Moses J. Moseley (left) shot himself in the head in January, but the manner of his death has not been determined. The 31-year-old played Mike, the house zombie, on his AMC show (right).
Moseley’s death certificate, obtained by TMZ, states that the manner of his death, such as accident, suicide, or murder, “cannot be determined.”
Moseley was found in the Hudson Bridge area of Stockbridge, a city on the outskirts of Atlanta, on January 26th.
According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ, the coroner concluded that Moseley “shot himself with unknown intent.”
Moseley’s immediate cause of death was determined to be “a gunshot wound to the head”, but his manner of death, such as accident, suicide, or murder, “could not be determined” from the results of his autopsy.
was found dead in his car late last month in Stockbridge, Georgia, a city on the outskirts of Atlanta, with a bullet through his head and a gun in his lap.
A celebrity news site reported that despite the coroner’s findings, Moseley’s relatives are still not convinced that he committed suicide.
Moseley’s sister, Tireya Kimbrough, shared with TMZ that the family received a touching letter of condolence this month from President Joe Biden and the First Lady.
Police suspected suicide, but Moseley’s family members suggested that he might have been kidnapped and killed.
Moseley appeared on The Walking Dead from 2012 to 2015 playing the armless and jawless Mike, a house zombie.
The letter, written on White House letterhead and dated March 8, reads: “Jill and I extend our sincere condolences to you on the passing of your beloved Moses. I know that I can say a few words that will ease the pain of losing a loved one. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
“Although the process of mourning is never completely over, I promise you that the day will come when the memory of Moses will bring a smile to your lips before I bring tears to your eyes. I pray for you that this day will come sooner rather than later.”
Family members reported that Moseley went missing on January 26, three days after he was last heard from.
The actor was soon tracked to a parking lot in Stockbridge by car security company OnStar, where he was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Police suspected that Moseley committed suicide, but his sister said the actor loves life and would never commit suicide.
AMC mourned Moseley’s death in a tweet in late January.
Other family members speculated that he may have been abducted and killed based on the location of the blood spatter, how the bullet entered his eye but did not exit his skull, and how loosely he held the gun.
In a chilling coincidence, the actor had just completed work on a film in which he played a man who died in a tragic accident. His sister said he was happy with where his career was heading and that they had big plans for the future.
“During the preliminary investigation, the possibility that the death could have been a suicide was considered, but no other possibilities were ruled out,” Captain Randy Lee of the Stockbridge Police Department previously told TMZ.
“As investigators moved forward with their investigation and more evidence was processed, reviewed and analyzed, other possibilities emerged, including random ones.”
According to IMDb, Moseley’s professional record dates back to 2009. He appeared in Joyful Noise starring Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton and The Internship starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.
In August 2012, he appeared on the cover of Entertainment Weekly alongside actress Danai Gurira.
