In an interview with The Sun, Mikaila Ulmer, a 17-year-old teenager from Texas, shared how she made her fortune in 2016.

At just four years old, the young girl claims to have discovered an old lemonade recipe given to her by her great-grandmother in a book from the 1940s. She decided to add honey and started selling from a kiosk in front of her house.

The idea of adding honey to the drink came to her after being stung by bees twice. Mikaila therefore began learning about bees and discovered their importance and the implications when they disappeared.

The young entrepreneur therefore added honey to her lemonade and took the opportunity to draw attention to bee protection. She called her product Me & the Bees Lemonade.

The brand was very successful and caught the attention of distribution company Whole Foods, which has a presence in several countries, including Canada. So, in 2016, the organic products distributor struck an $11 million deal with Mikaila to get its soda pop on grocery store shelves.
