This was reported by the Sportsnet network on Sunday.
DeBoer was fired by the Vegas Golden Knights last May, whom he coached between 2020 and 2022. Under his leadership, the Nevada team posted a 43-31-8 record that season, good for fourth place in the Pacific Division. She missed the playoffs for the first time in history.
The 54-year-old has played 1,015 regular-season games as a head coach in the National Hockey League. He also managed the Florida Panthers, New Jersey Devils and San Jose Sharks.
DeBoer has reached the Stanley Cup Finals twice, but he has never won top honors.
The Stars recently showed Rick Bowness the door after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Calgary Flames. The Texas team finished the season in fourth place in the Central Division with a 46-30-6 record.
