The Golden State Warriors will celebrate their 2022 NBA championship with a parade in downtown San Francisco on Monday, but this year’s celebrations will be toned down a bit.

According to Kylen Mills of Kron 4 News in the Bay Area, there will be no rally before or after the parade and players will not make any public speeches. Instead, the Warriors will reportedly broadcast their speeches from a private ceremony an hour before the parade begins.

I would suspect the recent spike in COVID cases to be a factor. The parade is meant to be as interactive as possible, is expected to last almost 3 hours but still have chances to be separate from the celebration. Here is the route of the parade: pic.twitter.com/DLSArirOKI

Golden State Championship Parade to begin the sentence at 2:20 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on NBA TV.

It’s the fourth title celebration in eight years for the Warriors, who defeated the Boston Celtics in six games in the 2022 NBA Finals. This year’s championship run was defined by Golden State’s resilience and courage against the spirited competition.

Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry, who was named Finals MVP for the first time in his successful career, explained why this season’s title meant more than the previous ones.

“This one is definitely different because we took baggage from that Game 6 for three years in 2019,” Curry said, referring to that year’s loss to the Toronto Raptors. “I can say it now, I don’t know how many teams could pull through that as long as we have the expectations to now compare ourselves to teams of the past and make it back to the mountaintop.”

While there won’t be a rally on Monday, fans of the Golden State will surely be looking forward to celebrating another championship for the Bay Area.
