Vietnam and Mozambique sign memorandum on parliamentary cooperation

In the text, the parties undertake to intensify the bonds of traditional friendship and multilateral cooperation based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit and respect, and compliance with national laws and international treaties.

In addition, in order to strengthen the exchange of parliamentary delegations and information on legislative activities and other issues of common interest, the VNA news agency said, noting the coincidence of positions when considering parliamentary diplomacy as an important channel in the implementation of foreign policy described each country.

The document was signed at the end of a meeting between Esperança Bias and Dinh Hue, during which the head of the Vietnamese legislature highlighted the importance of the first visit by a Mozambican MP to this Indochinese country.

Vietnam, the host assured, considers Mozambique as one of the five priority countries in Africa in promoting ties in politics, diplomacy and economic cooperation now and in the near future.

Dinh Hue pointed out that in order to deepen these ties, exchanges of delegations at all levels need to be intensified, especially between party organs, government and parliament, ministries and sectors, in addition to coordination in the organization of the Fourth Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee bilateral.

He also called for promoting cooperation and mutual support in the candidacy of international organizations, especially the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement, and strengthening cooperation based on the agreements between the two nations in the fight against terrorism and crime .

The President of Vietnam’s National Assembly also advocated further promoting economic ties and trade, and expressed his country’s willingness to cooperate and share experiences with Mozambique on health sector development, prevention and disease control.

Esperança Bias, meanwhile, thanked Vietnam for supporting Mozambique, particularly in the fight against Covid-19, as well as for electing this African state as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2023-2024 phase.

He also confirmed that the delegation accompanying him will hold meetings with Vietnamese companies to exchange investment and business opportunities in the country during his five-day visit, which ends next Thursday.

Before meeting Dinh Hue, the Mozambican parliamentary delegation laid a wreath at President Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum.
