They oppose the ADP strike for a pay rise

The parents of the students also rejected the intention of the teachers to paralyze the lessons a few days before the Easter holidays.

SANTO DOMINGO. The start of a series of mobilizations demanding a 25% salary increase by the Dominican Teachers’ Association (ADP) was met this Monday by the rejection of students’ parents, while teachers consulted supported the teachers’ strike.

Calling the union’s call to welcome teachers crazy, EDUCA urged teachers to reconsider before announcing the suspension of classes.

The intention of the professors to paralyze teaching a few days before the Easter holidays was also met with rejection from parents of students who fear that their children could be late on the eve of the final exams.

While consulted teachers at the Santa Teresa de Jesús elementary school agreed to the demands of the teachers’ union.

With the announcement, which includes a simultaneous mobilization day at Minerd’s regional offices demanding a 25 percent wage increase and other demands, the ADP declared a standing session.

According to the ADP, as part of its demands, classrooms will remain closed on Friday, March 25 and Wednesday, March 30.
