Matthew Fox won’t be lost to the film industry for much longer.

The 55-year-old actor has been candid about his return to acting after more than five years away from film and television and more than a decade after the end of his hit series Lost.

“I had kind of a list in my head of things I wanted to accomplish in business, and after doing Bone Tomahawk in 2014, the list was kind of complete,” he told Variety. “I wanted to do a western. It’s a very weird western, but it’s a western. And that sort of completed the bucket list.

While saying he’s enjoying his retirement, Fox admitted he realized he still wanted to do more on his professional bucket list.

“It kind of got to a point where I thought maybe executive producers would be on the wish list,” said the ‘Party of Five’ actor. “I have never done that. The opportunity to work on Last Light came up, so I wanted to give it a try. And it felt like the right time.’

“So it all just came together. It felt like it was the moment to step back in and see what it’s like to be back in front of a camera and acting again,” Fox continued. “And it was surprisingly rewarding. And I felt really good about it, and with this incredible group of people and the collaborative aspect of it and how well we all connected, how much we believed in the project. And it turned out to be a fantastic experience.”

Fox last appeared as a noted actor in the 2015 film Bone Tomahawk and has not appeared on a television show since Lost ended in 2010.
