The South Korean dancer and model made history as the first K-pop star to join OnlyFans despite the country’s strict pornography laws.
OnlyFans has become a household name in the West thanks to big-name users like Bella Thorne, Blac Chyna and Jessica Power, but the colorful website has yet to make a splash in Asia.
But that may soon change when Bomi from South Korean girl group Girl Crush becomes the first K-pop singer to join OnlyFans.
“I opened my OnlyFans,” she announced on Twitter last week. “You can subscribe for $15. Sexy photos and fancams will be uploaded!”
Historical: Bomi (pictured) of South Korean girl group Girl Crush became the first K-pop singer to join adult site OnlyFans.
The 25-year-old performer is already selling lewd photos through other paid sites and apps popular in Korea, but this is her first time on OnlyFans.
Pornography is still largely illegal in South Korea, but there are a few loopholes on social media that let some illegal content through.
Distribution of pornography is a criminal offence; however, there are no laws penalizing people for viewing, downloading or possessing pornography.
Pornography is also blocked by the government on almost all websites and search engines, making it difficult to access in the first place.
Confident: “I opened my OnlyFans,” she announced on Twitter last week. “You can subscribe for $15. Sexy photos and fancams will be uploaded!”
Although Bomi made history as the first Korean pop star to join OnlyFans, she is not a traditional mainstream idol.
Her four-member girl group, Girl Crush, is a dance troupe that regularly performs at music festivals and other events throughout Korea.
After becoming popular on the internet with their lewd performances, they entered the music industry in 2019 with their first single, Memories.
The song failed to chart, but many of Girl Crush’s performances and dance covers continue to circulate on YouTube, racking up millions of views.

Raunchy: The group is known for their provocative dance covers and outfits.
OnlyFans remains controversial in many parts of Asia due to the region’s strict obscenity and pornography laws.
Social media influencer Titus Lowe, who used to be Singapore’s biggest creator of OnlyFans, is facing jail time after being arrested and charged with “passing obscene material of his private parts.”
In September, the 22-year-old was reported to the police, resulting in five police officers breaking into his home and confiscating his phone and access to his iCloud and OnlyFans account.
Daring show: Bomi often goes viral on YouTube for her scantily clad dance performances.
In addition to the charge of passing obscene material, Titus was also charged with failing to comply with a police order to deny access to his OnlyFans account after it was confiscated.
If proven guilty, he could face jail time in addition to numerous fines.
Singapore prohibits the possession, distribution and sale of pornographic materials.
However, it is legal to stream pornography unless it is downloaded or stored.
