(Montreal) Québec solidaire (QS) uses National Indigenous Peoples Day to present five First Nations candidates for the Oct. 3 general election in Quebec.

The second opposition to the National Assembly confirms that this is a record number of Aboriginal candidatures ever submitted by any party in Quebec.
They are the author Maïtée Labrecque-Saganash, a Cree who will run for the nomination in Ungava; the author Michaël Ottereyes, an Innu from Mashteuiatsh, in Roberval; Jacques Thériault Watso, carpenter and carpenter from Abenaki, in Nicolet-Bécancour; Neuropsychologist Benjamin Gingras, member of the Anishnabe nation, in Abitibi-Est, and Innu designer and idea generator Gérard Briand in Saint-Laurent.
Québec solidaire spokeswoman Manon Massé has criticized the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) government for not changing the nation-to-nation relationship since it took power, despite many promises to First Nations peoples.
Ms. Massé believes that so many First Nations nominations speak louder than any promise.
