Gasoline shortages reported in Havana and Mayabeque

Gasoline, along with food and medicine, is becoming scarce in Cuba, particularly in Havana and Mayabeque, independent media outlet CubaNet reported Monday after touring several gas stations in both provinces.

The above media stated that in Havana, most gas stations do not sell fuel and there are few CubaPetroleum Union (Cupet) gas stations that sell some derivatives, but with long queues.

According to information from ServiCupet, an application created to inform West Indians of the units that have fuel on the island, the vast majority of Havana service centers have not delivered gas for more than 72 hours.

A young van, identified as Daniel Sánchez, told CubaNet that he woke up and stood in line “to see if I could get gas.” The Boyerosbased Antillean said they only sell 20 liters of petrol to private individuals, which is why he is concerned as he is a taxi driver by trade.

Matanzas also reports fuel shortages

Several airlines said only three service centers had fuel availability in the Cuban capital.

“There is only petrol in the Cupet de Mazorra (Boyeros), in the CUJAE roundabout (José Antonio Echeverría University Center) and in the G and 25 (Plaza de la Revolución). I’ve been driving around all morning and there’s no gas anywhere else. I couldn’t buy because the queues are huge at the few stores that sell,” said Rubén Fernández, who drives a private motorcycle.

It is important to remember that the authorities of the province of Matanzas reported this Sunday that the sale of fuel, petrol and diesel to individuals was regulated, claiming that the decision was not based on the “logistical guarantee of their distribution”. the “fuel deficit in the country”, a statement which, of course, many Antilles rejected.
