Certification company Okta investigates reports of digital breaches

Washington, March 22 -Authentication service provider Okta Inc (OKTA.O) is investigating reports of digital breaches on Tuesday after posting screenshots claiming that hackers are in-house. Told.

In a statement, Okta’s official Chris Hollis said the breach may be related to a previous case in January that was contained.

Okta was detecting attempts to compromise the accounts of third-party customer support engineers at the time, Hollis said.

“I believe the screenshots shared online are related to this January event,” he said. “According to previous investigations, there is no evidence of continued malicious activity other than the activity detected in January.”

The screenshot was posted on the Telegram channel late Monday by a group of ransom-seeking hackers known as LAPSUS $. In the accompanying message, the group said, “We are focusing solely on Okta’s customers.”

Security experts told Reuters that the screenshots look real.

“I certainly believe it’s reliable,” said independent security researcher Bill Demirkapi, citing photos of Okta’s internal tickets and in-house chat on the Slack messaging app.

Dan Tentler, founder of cybersecurity consultancy Phobos Group, also believed the breach was genuine and urged Okta’s customers to be “extremely vigilant now.”
