Minister Jolin-Barrette will address an audience of academics and 150 guests, under the famous dome of the Quai de Conti, who have come to learn about the new version of the French language charter, adopted in 1977 and reviewed by his government . This year.

Mr. Jolin-Barrette will take the opportunity to explain his political and nationalist approach, namely how Quebec intends to better protect the French language and ensure its influence and sustainability, intervening on different levers to stem its decline, in particular opposite Montréal.

It is exceptional that an elected official who is neither head of government nor head of state is invited to address the members of the assembly that brings together the elite of French-speaking literature. The French Academy was founded in 1634 and has 40 members, including the Quebec writer of Haitian origin Dany Laferrière.

Minister Jolin-Barrette described this invitation as historic and a unique opportunity to strengthen ties around the common goal of protecting and promoting French.

During his short mission of a few days in France, Simon Jolin-Barrette, as Minister of Justice, also plans to meet with dignitaries.
