Seriously though, Carroll and Seahawks GM John Schneider both say Locke is the guy who could take their places. Locke, of course, was acquired as part of a deal that brought Wilson to the Denver Broncos.

“If he plays like he used to, I think we have a chance,” Carroll said via Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta. You go back to his first year as a rookie, when he was 4-1, his third loss was amazing. It is very good to take care of football. … We think he’s still the same guy, so we’ll see.”

Lok just wrapped up his third season, and it’s all for the Broncos. While he may have “played like a rookie,” he appeared in just six games last season, up from three. He completed 67 of 111 passes for 787 yards with touchdowns and two interceptions. Over the past three years, Locke has compiled an 8-13 record.

Hardly the stuff that Super Bowl dreams are made of. But hey, the Seahawks are happy.

“We are excited about this,” Schneider said. “We are happy to see a change of scenery for him.”

Locke is not Wilson, but he is the Seahawks’ new center. So when the Seahawks say they’re excited, they can be trusted.
