The President of the Balearic Islands Francina Armengol, has distanced itself from the government’s position. Ask Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to explain the new position on the Sahara.

“We will continue to care for the Saharawi people of working together and understanding that this is a people who have been suffering for 40 years and have a great bond with Spain. The government will always position itself on the basis of human rights and international law,” he concluded.
UN supported solution
The President of the Canary Islands Angel Victor Torreshas defended in the Canarian Parliament that the solution must be “accepted by all parties” and supported by the UN.

Sánchez will appear in Congress
Pedro Sánchez’s decision represents a change of historical criterion for Spain, but also for the PSOE. The traditional position of the socialists has been to respect the selfdetermination of the Saharawi people. However, now it is added to the Moroccan position.
