Ralph Priso-Mbongue, who came on for Jonathan Osorio in the 62nd minute, got the home crowd going just under 15 minutes later when his shot from outside the box sliced through the opposition’s net.
For his part, Osorio, although no longer on the field, had already contributed to his people’s gain. From the eighth minute he performed a maneuver in the opponent’s area before shaking the ropes.
Luiz Araujo provided the visitors’ answer in the 57th minute.
Mukhtar benefits Nashville SC twice
In Washington, Germany’s Hany Mukhtar scored twice in Nashville SC’s 3-1 win over DC United.
The 27-year-old athlete initially benefited from a fine passing game from his team-mates in first-half injury time before putting the finishing touches by squeezing the ball into a gaping cage.
On his return to the field, in the 50th minute to be precise, Mukhtar played luck, seeing his shot deflected off an opposing defender before going into the crowd favorite’s net.
Former CF Montreal Daniel Lovitz scored in the sixth minute for the winner, while Taxiarchis Fountas responded in the 59th minute for DC United.
Sounder dominance
In Seattle, the Sounders didn’t give Sporting Kansas City a chance and beat them 3-0.
Will Bruin (8th minute) opened the ball for the crowd favorite in the first half, while Jordan Morris (71st minute) and Cristian Roldan (76th minute) also scored.
Home goalkeeper Stefan Frei only needed to signal once to sign the shutout as his teammates fired eight on one.
