“If we put Vladimir Putin in a desperate state, he will certainly use the atomic bomb.” The March 22nd episode of #Cartabianca, a Rai3 talk show hosted by Bianca Berlinguer, will host Alessandro Orsini, Professor of Sociology of International Terrorism, who, as usual, ignited discussions with his comments on the war between Russia and Ukraine : “Putin is screaming, he’s been telling us that for a long time. We repeat “certainly he will not use the atomic bomb”. Putin said at a conference with French President Macron: “I know I’m inferior to NATO, but I have the atomic bomb”. If Putin were really going to use the atom bomb in a desperate situation where he was about to lose the war in Ukraine, Europe would share moral responsibility. “So does Putin have to win the war to avoid the risk associated with the atomic bomb?” is the question put to the professor, who nods: “If you see the discourse in this light, I say let’s let Putin win the war.”
Orsini is also tough on the Italian government and on Europe in general: “We are at a very tragic point in the war. The forecasts of the last few weeks are confirmed. Our bellicose stance towards Ukraine has led to an escalation. We have more dead, Putin showed terrible weapons. I see images of devastation everywhere, children and pregnant women being slaughtered. In a normal world, I expect to see the face of the Prime Minister or the French President saying, “Let’s make peace”. Instead, I see the face of a ruler saying, “Let’s give up arms, let’s kill Russian soldiers.” Italy and Europe are giving up arms, they are taking sanctions to a very high level. It is Orsini concludes very clear what they are doing for the war. What are you doing for peace? Nothing at all”.
