ISLAMABAD, March 22 (Xinhua) Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in Islamabad on Tuesday that China upholds true multilateralism and stands ready to build four partnerships with Islamic countries.
At the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Wang said China stands ready to build four partnerships of solidarity, development, security and civilization with Islamic countries in a world of turmoil and transformation.
First build up a solidary and coordinating association. China and Islamic countries should assist each other in maintaining sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and help each other explore a development path suitable for their own national conditions, Wang said.
They should also support each other to safeguard their legitimate development interests and the common interests of developing countries.
Second: Building a development and revitalization association. China will provide 300 million doses of COVID19 vaccines to Islamic countries to help them fight the pandemic, Wang said. Both sides should work together to build the “Belt and Road” and implement the highquality global development initiative to help achieve the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Third, Build a partnership of security and stability. China will continue to support Islamic countries to solve the world’s burning problems with Islamic wisdom and hold the key to stability and peace in their own hands, Wang added. China stands ready to promote the comprehensive and just solution to the Palestine problem to promote the twostate solution.
China is helping Afghanistan to form an inclusive government and achieve governmental stability to usher in a new era of peace and reconstruction.
China will encourage Russia and Ukraine to continue peace talks to reach a ceasefire and end the conflict until peace is reached. Efforts should be made to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe and prevent the Ukraine crisis from spilling over, which might otherwise affect or damage the legitimate rights and interests of other regions and other countries, he said.
Fourth, building a mutual learning partnership between civilizations. China opposes creating division and confrontation by drawing lines on ideology, Wang said, adding that China also opposes the ideas of “supremacy of a civilization” and “clash of civilizations.”
Both sides should also deepen their cooperation on preventing terrorism and radicalization, and reject double standards on counterterrorism and associating terrorism with any particular nation or religion, he said.
Recalling that friendship is the mainstream of relations between China and Islamic countries, equality is the basis of mutual communication between the two sides, and winwin is the goal of mutual cooperation, Wang made three suggestions to further communication between the two to promote parties.
First of all, China and Islamic countries should always uphold mutual respect and trust, and address each other’s core concerns. China will never forget Islamic countries’ strong support in restoring their rightful seat at the United Nations, and China, in turn, has always supported the Islamic world in its core concern on the Palestinian issue, Wang said.
Second, the two sides should always adhere to unity and mutual aid, and work together to achieve common development. The joint construction of Belt and Road has served as a bridge and link between the two sides for development and prosperity. China has signed cooperation documents with 54 Islamic countries on nearly 600 major projects, bringing tangible results to people on both sides, Wang said.
Third, China and Islamic countries should always adhere to learn from each other and preserve the diversity of civilizations in the world. The two sides should draw on the wisdom of each other’s long civilizations, Wang added.
