Miley Cyrus’ plane was forced to make an emergency landing Tuesday night after being struck by lightning.
The singer traveled to Paraguay to headline Day 2 of the Asunciónico festival, but her plans were canceled after the plane was evacuated to safety.
“To my fans and anyone who is concerned after hearing about my flight to Asuncion. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lightning,” Cyrus wrote on social media.

“My crew, band, friends and family, who all traveled with me, are safe after an emergency landing. Unfortunately we could not fly to Paraguay. I LOVE YOU,” added Cyrus, 29, with a broken red heart emoji.

Cyrus shared video of the horrific situation from her seat on the plane. As she films the view from her plane window, the black sky suddenly lights up with a flash. Passengers can hear loud gasps.
According to its website, 2022 Asunciónico is “one of Paraguay’s biggest rock festivals,” usually held every March. Local reports say Cyrus’ performance should draw a large audience.
