Another high-profile trade is booming in the NFL.
Kansas City executives have given wide receiver Tyreke Hill’s camp permission to seek a trade after contract renewal talks stalled, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero said Wednesday, according to sources. Rapoport added that this happened despite an offer from the Chiefs that would have made Hill one of the highest paid wide receivers in the NFL.
The Dolphins were among the most interested in acquiring Hill, Rapoport said, adding that the Packers and Jets also signed up in Kansas City. Rapoport says the Chiefs will get a first-round pick and more for going to the Pro Bowl six times. According to Rapoport, Hill will receive a new contract extension wherever he ends up.
The process of potentially replacing Hill is already underway in Kansas City. According to the source, Pelissero says Packers free agent Marquez Valdez-Scantling is heading to KC for training on Wednesday. Pelissero adds that no deal is in sight, but a speedster would be a logical option to fill the void.
Hill became one of the league’s top serious threats in his six-year career, with a total of 479 receptions, 6,630 receiving yards and 56 touchdowns.
The NFL will have more information about this story soon.
