The US Treasury Department on Tuesday imposed new sanctions on Russian stateowned Rostec, a maker of commercial and military aircraft, and gave US companies an August deadline to complete transactions with Rostec, state agency TASS reported.
Rostec is considered a cornerstone of Russia’s defense, industrial, technology and manufacturing sectors, the US State Department said in its statement, justifying the sanctions.
The American document imposing the restrictions states that “all operations involving the stateowned Rostec company, as well as any other company in which it has a stake of at least 50%, must be gradually reduced in order for them to be closed 00:01 (US East Coast time) on August 11, 2022.
Listing means freezing the company’s assets in the United States and prohibiting US citizens or companies from doing business with them. It didn’t stop there. The US State Department also announced the introduction of visa restrictions for “19 members of Rostec’s board of directors and nine of their spouses and children”.
