“They make a lot of noise, my child cannot sleep,” another local resident told the newspaper. “It became a hindrance to the whole neighborhood.”

Gates has invested his $134 billion capital in the San Diego Department of Buildings, which appears to have accelerated approval for renovations.

Just a year ago, Gates bought the site for $43 million from oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens’ ex-wife, Madeleine Pickens, who added three adjoining lots when she owned it. Photos of real estate from that time show the property in a state of “turnkey”.

Three months later, he announced his divorce from Melinda after 27 years. Demolition began on the site in January.

The couple’s public split was due to a combination of circumstances, not the least of which was Bill’s affair in 2000.

“It wasn’t one moment or any particular thing, there just came a point in time where it was enough for me to realize it was just unhealthy and I couldn’t trust what we had,” she told Gail. King in a TV interview.

It’s unclear if Gates wants to erase Melinda’s memories by completely renovating the house, but the original house was not a renovation.

“The house they bought was in immaculate condition, it’s not entirely clear why he wanted to demolish it,” a local realtor told The Post.

This home, which also includes a two-bedroom guest house and an open-plan living room, has become one of the most expensive real estate purchases in 2021.

The Post reports that insiders say that when completed, the Del Mar mansion will become Gates’ summer bachelor pad.

He takes a keen interest in how it works.

“When he comes in, he checks the house, goes out in front of the house, inspects it,” sources told the Post.

An expected completion date has been set for August, but photos obtained by the newspaper show it is nearly level.

“They are working around the clock to do this,” a source told the newspaper.
