In a statement late Thursday, the Navy said it had lost confidence in the judgment of HMCS Regina’s Lieutenant Commander David Dallin.

The Navy says it took action after an incident that happened on another ship recently during a Navy training exercise.

Details of what happened have not been released.

Canadian Fleet Pacific commander Commodore David Mazur said in the statement that the incident is still under investigation but involved “inappropriate conduct”.

Navy Highlights Commodore Meghan Coates has now assumed command of HMCS Regina, a Halifax-class frigate based at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt, British Columbia.

“The Navy expects all of its members to exercise institutionally sound judgment at all times, particularly when holding clear leadership or command roles,” the Navy said in the statement.

The Navy says Mr Dallin will serve in other roles with Maritime Forces Pacific at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt until the investigation is complete.
