The Ukrainian Rada has positioned the European Union flag next to the national one. The blue flag with the 27 gold stars was raised behind the chair of the class president on the occasion of the speeches by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. “Our goal is full membership of the EU. We understand that access will not be immediate, but we will share this path with Europe,” Stefanchuk explained. Who added on Facebook: “Up until this morning I had two dreams. The first: in the area of the Verkhovna Rada, next to the Ukrainian yellow-blue flag, the flag of the European Union. The second is when I finally take off my military uniform and wear a white shirt to conduct a peaceful plenary session of Parliament. The first dream has already come true, the second is coming true. The flag of the European Union suits the Rada. And for color and meaning”. Von der Leyen’s speech was greeted with a long round of applause from the house. “I want to thank her again for her leadership,” Zelenskyy emphasized when introducing her.
