A 15-year-old girl lost her leg after being attacked by a shark a few meters from shore. Luckily, the little girl was rescued by a family member who managed to escape the animal. The 15-year-old, who has not yet been identified, was attacked by the shark near Grassy Island off Keaton Beach in Taylor County Florida. Her injuries were so bad that she was flown to a hospital in Tallahassee, about 80 miles northwest of Keaton.

According to the sheriff’s office, the teenager underwent surgery and is not life-threatening. It is not clear what type of shark it was. The authorities have stipulated that bathers in this area are constantly made aware of the danger of a possible attack by these predators. Among the basic rules that visitors must follow is to never swim alone and never enter the waters near fishermen, especially on the sandbars where sharks often like to congregate and avoid sudden movements in the water.
