The “Survivor” challenge had to be canceled because the participants were overwhelmed by waves

For the first time ever, Jeff Probst had to complete a challenge on Survivor on Wednesday night. The first part of the challenge brought the three tribes in the ocean to what happened to be a particularly turbulent day in the water. While one tribe easily took first place thanks to a brute performance from Jonathan, the other two didn’t even manage to finish the water portion as they couldn’t cope with the constant pounding of the waves.

“Another big wave and more to come,” Probst said as some of the players struggled to keep their heads above water. “These waves continue on day seven of Survivor 42.”

Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the challenge.

Eventually Probst had seen enough and allowed the last two tribes to jump to the land piece.

“All right, both tribes, drag your ladders in. Come in. Pull it up here and put it here and wait. … Here’s what we’re going to do,” Probst said. “Your tireless efforts don’t make it any easier. We will get your keys and give them to you and we will continue the challenge from here. Does that sound fair? I’ve never done that in Survivor history.”

survivor airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m CBS.
