LA PAZ, July 2 (Xinhua). ).
The announcement was made by Public Works Minister Edgar Montaño, who indicated that bidding has begun for this project, which will require an investment of 169,718,855 bolivianos (about $24.7 million).
“We invite national and international companies specializing in integrated radio spectrum systems to participate in this tender. This project will give way to 5G technology,” Montaño told Bolivia’s state television.
He emphasized that Siner will have more efficient telecommunications that meet the needs of modernity.
According to the minister, this system will allow the Regulatory and Inspectorate for Telecommunications and Transport (ATT) to have the technology to detect the frequencies that have not been regulated.
For his part, ATT director Néstor Ríos told Xinhua that 5G connections worldwide will surpass 1,000 million in 2022 and are expected to reach 2,000 million by 2025.
He added that Bolivia cannot stand aside and is therefore taking the necessary measures to unblock bands, plan their tendering and manage operators’ investments so that 5G technology is rolled out in the country in 2024.
