A widow told how she told her husband’s lover that he had died

A young widow went viral after telling her husband’s mistress about his death.

Bridget Davis, 36, from Cincinnati, lost her husband and father of two of her children to suicide in 2018 — and in her grief, she realized that another woman he saw might also want to know about his death.

But when another woman, who shamelessly admitted that she knew the man was married and had children but insisted that he “needed” her for support, asked the location of his grave, Bridget bluntly refused to tell her.

“When your 10 year old husband dies and you have to tell his mistress,” Bridget wrote in a viral TikTok video that has been viewed 1.6 million times.

She then shared a screenshot of their private messages on Instagram, starting with another woman’s reaction to the news.

“B***. I can’t believe it,” the owner wrote.

“I can’t, I’m losing him. I can’t do it again. He promised me,” she continued, although it is not clear what he promised her—certainly not that he would not die.

“Can I put on that he was buried?” she finally asked.

“No,” Bridget replied.

In the video, Bridget cuts to a frame of her face as the Patsy Cline song Crazy plays, apparently calling her mistress crazy for thinking the request is appropriate.

Bridget shared more details in subsequent videos, including a further exchange in which Bridget asks her mistress if she knew he had been married to her for ten years and that they had “two wonderful kids together… whom I homeschooled.”

The other woman actually knew he was married and didn't seem to care - and even took pride in telling her boyfriend's wife about their relationship.

The other woman actually knew about it and seemed unconcerned — and even proud to have told her boyfriend’s wife about their relationship.

‘He said 14 or 16 [years]? Yes. I know a lot about things. He needed support [he] told me he and I were peas in a pod,” she said.

Bridget replied: “We were together for 16 years. I know nothing about you. Except he said you weren’t his girlfriend and broke up with you.

In subsequent videos, Bridget explained how she found out about the other woman her husband was dating, talking about his mental health issues and their marital problems leading up to his death.

“My husband struggled with mental illness all his life, and in the fall of 2017 he was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder,” she continued.

“In November 2017, I discovered some questionable things on his phone that led me to end up running into him. The confrontation ended in a rather large quarrel, and in the end he left for the night. I still don’t know where he went.

Shortly before his death, he told her that he had broken off relations with another woman, and they began counseling on marriage.

When he came home at 5 am, he told her about how much he had struggled and said he left the house with a gun, intending to kill himself.

They tried to work on his health and their marriage, but later she discovered more questionable things on his phone – and after investigation, she learned that what he was up to was worse than she imagined. She didn’t kick him out because he would kill himself.

But everything exploded when he went to Mexico without telling her, went silent on the radio for several days and made her worry. When she finally heard from him—during a conversation in which he confessed to more bad behavior, including spending all their money—he threatened to kill himself if she left him.

“The person I was talking to that day was not the person I married,” she said.

Bridget and her family managed to get him back home and checked him into a mental health center, but he soon checked out and moved into a property owned by his parents.

He eventually told her in March 2018 that he had met someone on a dating site.

Bridget said she told her husband’s mistress about his death because she felt she “had a right to know”.

“Obviously I had to reevaluate everything because that wasn’t the direction I saw things going,” Bridget said.

However, in May of that year, he asked Bridget to go to marriage counseling and said that he had broken off relations with another woman. She thought they were back on track until June, when he “lost his battle with depression.”

Bridget said she told her husband’s mistress about his death because she felt she “had a right to know”.

“I had nothing against her and I knew that the man I married and the man she was dating were two different people,” she said.

She also said that she refused to expose the other woman.

“Although it sounds almost therapeutic to have my late husband’s mistress blow up all over social media, I can’t,” she said, explaining that she has 11-year-old and 13-year-old children who might stumble across her videos.

“I don’t want to cause more trauma in her life,” she said.
