“The fire at Mile High Stadium is now under control,” DFD tweeted, using the name of the stadium’s predecessor.

“Sprinklers tried to stop the fire, but it took firefighters to put it out completely. During our media briefing, scheduled to take place at 3:00 pm on the east side of the stadium, heavy flames and smoke were detected.”

The fire appears to have broken out in a section of the stadium with sumptuous boxes and rows of seats in that section.

Apparently, the stadium was badly damaged by smoke.

Workers were evacuated from the premises, according to Mike Klees, who covers the Denver Channel 9 crew.

Team representatives did not immediately respond to ‘s request for comment.

The stadium was completed in 2001 to replace the old Broncos Mile High, which was half a century old when it was demolished.
