Ferrari Purosangue: This is happening.Photo: Ferrari
After years of rumors, renderings, leaks and court battles, Ferrari has finally collapsed, admitting that 2022 is finally the year to unveil its version of a luxury utility vehicle. Even if there is an oxymoron.
Italy’s most famous car maker has produced stunning supercars for 75 years. We are celebrating this anniversary with the latest naming conventions for F1 racer F1-75.
However, with a major departure from the sophisticated and elegant art form of supercar design, we are preparing to launch the first Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) instead.
The new car, reportedly called the Ferrari Prosang, has been rounding at the rumored factory for years. Ferrari will be one of the last luxury car makers to enter the SUV segment, following similar moves from Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Porsche.
Ferrari reviewed the car and gave a glimpse of what the car would look like in this week’s entire social media account post. The Italian company shared the image of the front end of the new car and showed clear similarities with Ferrari’s SF90 Stradale. That said, it’s much taller and heavier than this sleek supercar.

The details of the new Ferrari are thin on the ground. The Italian company has so far confirmed that it will have a four-wheel drive and that the car will run on the new front mid-engine platform.
Ferrari confirmed in its 2018 financial results that the SUV has adopted a newly developed double clutch transmission and the interior is “spacious and comfortable”. Utility vehicle?
Ferrari not only teased the image of the front end, but also confirmed that the details of the SUV will be revealed “later this year”.
The company also states that Purosangue’s “pedigree can be traced back through a 75-year history of innovation, evolution and uncompromising performance,” a very Ferrari statement.
I can’t wait to see Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna on stage with the SUV’s Ribir trying to convince us all that this is a natural evolution of the Dinio and F12 Berlinetta.

The company claims to be a “real game changer” when a new car goes on sale. But what performance can Ferrari get from an SUV that can’t be unlocked with something like Lamborghini or Aston Martin?
I don’t know yet. But are you excited about the Ferrari Prosang outlook until the details are announced?
Or is this a car that is at risk of becoming obsolete before it hits the streets, as the increasing emphasis is on hybrid and electric vehicles?
