Rio Actor Thiago Gagliasso, brother of Bruno Gagliasso, has been ordered to pay R$10,000 in compensation to the mother of one of the youths murdered in a police operation in Jacarezinho, in the city’s north zone, in May last year. The conviction was for nonpecuniary damages against Adriana Santana de Araújo Rodrigues, mother of Marlon Santana de Araújo. Thiago shared a picture of a woman with a gun who said it was the murdered boy’s mother. The information was denied by the police authorities.
“It is evident that the defendant’s publication has affected the dignity of the plaintiff as, in addition to mocking the grief of the loss of her son, it has tarnished her standing in society by associating her with the crime. In addition, the defendant is a public figure with many followers, which makes it easier to spread the content,” reads an excerpt from Judge José Guilherme Vasi Werner’s decision.
In addition to paying compensation, the judge gave Gagliasso five days to appeal on his social media, with a daily fine of BRL 200, capped at BRL 2,000. The conviction was confirmed on Tuesday last week (28).
Taking to social media, the actor commented on the court decision and said he had not yet been notified.

The lawyer thinks the value is low and will appeal
Adriana’s lawyer, João Tancredo, said that he will appeal against the judicial conviction because he considers the amount set for payment of the fine to be low: “The fine has an educational nature. The amount set for payment does not encourage him (Thiago) to speak the truth. But if there is a revocation, which is Adriana’s wish, Thiago will not have to pay a penalty,” explained Tancredo.
