The head of Venezuela’s diplomatic mission in Spain, Mauricio Rodríguez, highlighted the commemoration of the 211th anniversary of the signing of the Venezuelan Declaration of Independence and the Day of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces.
At the foot of the equestrian statue of the Liberator in Madrid’s Parque del Oeste, Rodríguez underscored the challenges humanity is currently facing with climate change, the food crisis and heightened global fear and coercive measures suffocating certain countries.
The hostility and blocking measures against the economies of free, independent and sovereign countries in Latin America – clearly alluding to Cuba and Venezuela, among others – and the persistence of a unipolar world in the infallible transition to multipolarity were mentioned by the diplomat.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Venezuela quoted reflections at different times in the history of the Apostle of Cuban Independence, José Martí, the historic leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, and more recently, Pope Francis.
He recalled that 654 million people live in the so-called New World region and that it has 70 percent of the world’s megadiverse areas, currently Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Peru and Ecuador.
Secretary of State for the 2030 Agenda, Enrique Santiago, who is also General Secretary of the Spanish Communist Party (PCE), was among those attending the ceremony.
Likewise the ambassadors of Cuba, Marcelino Medina; Argentina, Ricardo Alfonsin; Bolivia, Nardi Suxo; and diplomats from Mexico, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Uruguay, China, Iran, Syria, Palestine, Russia, DPRK and Turkey; and groups of solidarity and friendship with Venezuela.
