The gendarmes are conducting a difficult investigation to arrest the perpetrators of the shooting that caused the deaths of two young people from the Ozanam housing estate in Schoelcher (July 2-3, 2022). In this report, made two days after the events, we encountered different forms of emotions.
An atmosphere of sadness and revolt pervades the people found at the scene of the shooting in the town of Ozanam, Schoelcher.
Our reporters enter the corridor where Loïc, who presents himself as an artist, lost his little brother, who would have celebrated his 20th birthday next October.
“He was about to get a speaker… (…) He had to work today, but hey. (…) I’m an artist, he liked all the sounds I made… big hole, but I accept,” he tries to convince himself before being overwhelmed by emotion.
The two dead of this murderous madness, Axel (26) and Anderson (19), would be collateral victims. Two young people who, according to our interlocutors, would have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“Young people stand in a square, others come and shoot at the crowd. A course of action that endangers innocent people with a new type of weapon. Weapons of war with magazines capable of firing a volley of 30 bullets in a few seconds are extremely dangerous, notes Terrence Brival, president of the All Lives Count collective, producer, organizer of events.
