Paris: The Champs Elysées is the European avenue that best emerged from the Covid crisis

It is not called “the most beautiful avenue in the world” for nothing. According to a study by Mytraffic, the European leader in traffic flow analysis, the Champs-Elysées has again reached a number of visitors that is 23% higher than before Covid-19. In this case, it is also the only one of the other metropolises examined (Amsterdam, Rome, Madrid, Berlin, London and Brussels). Still according to MyTraffic, in May 2022 there were an average of 880,000 passages in front of a store, which is a 102% increase over the previous year.

This is good news for economic players on the Champs-Elysées as we expected a return to pre-Covid levels in 2023. According to the study, this strong recovery is explained by three factors: “dynamics of financial backs, return of tourists and more all pre-Paris 2024 emulation”. Also taken into account is the avenue redevelopment project announced in May by Anne Hidalgo and the Champs-Élysées Committee, which “will make the avenue greener and harmonize all its terraces”.

In this ranking of the most resilient commercial arteries, the Champs-Elysées are ahead of the Leidsestraat in Amsterdam (+55% traffic over a year) and Via Corso in Rome (+49%).
