Spain midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of Major League Soccer (MLS) 2020, is reportedly leaving Toronto FC to join Inter Miami.
According to the ESPN network, club Queen City would get their hands on a sum of $150,000 in compensation money in exchange for the 30-year-old player’s services.
Pozuelo’s contract with Toronto FC was due to end this summer. With a salary of $4.69 million, he is currently the fourth highest paid player in MLS.
This departure, which frees up a designated player spot, coincides with the arrival of Italy’s Lorenzo Insigne and Domenico Criscito in the Canadian metropolis. Toronto staff would also actively try to convince international Federico Bernardeschi to join his compatriots.
In 19 games this season, Pozuelo has recorded four goals and five assists. Since joining MLS in 2019, he has made 88 appearances for CF Montreal’s biggest rivals.
